Beef Brisket and a Hoo Rag Giveaway

I tried 2 new things for our dinner tonight. I had never cooked a beef brisket in the slow cooker and I also had never worn a Hoo Rag. Both of those things turned out really well! I am sharing them here this week and thanks to the kind folks at Hoo Rag a lucky reader can pick up 2 pretty Hoo Rags for themselves and a $25 Amazon gift card!

When the folks at Hoo Rag contacted me about trying one of their bandanas as I was cooking, I admit I had to visit their website to see what they were all about as I’d never heard of them. What I found was a versatile seamless bandana in a variety of colors and patterns with ones suited for both the guys and ladies. I also saw a ton of ways to wear them- as headband to keep your hair back when cooking, as a sweat band when working out, as a face bandana for working or motorcyclists, and it will even fold into a ponytail holder! I was impressed but thought I would talk to some real people and I got great feedback as well. Milehimama said she even used them to make a baggie for her kids’ rock collections from the park.

I couldn’t believe how many industries and walks of life and all the purposes for a Hoo Rag! I used the yellow one as to pull my hair back as I was making the brisket. It was easy to put on and slip over my head. It worked great! It slipped just a little, but I will qualify that I do have a big head. :-) It is definitely something I will keep using and will come in handy for pulling my hair back on busy Mom days! I’m excited to be able to bring you 2 Hoo Rags in 2 great colors- pink and purple! The giveaway is at the end of this post- 2 Hoo Rags so that you can use one for working out or working or cooking and another for a cute go to headband or ponytail holder. I’ve paired it with an Amazon gift card for an awesome giveaway exclusive to Sparkles and a Stove!

Here is me using the yellow Hoo Rag slicing this awesome brisket! (I know I need to get my roots done haha!)

HooRag and Beef Brisket

Beef brisket when it’s cooked correctly is so tender that it can be cut with a fork and has so much flavor that your mouth will water. Then when you add the ease of doing it in the slow cooker which I love as some of my favorite recipes come from there (like this slow cooker Mexican chicken) it’s an unbeatable combination and a delicious family dinner on a busy night or a great addition to a party buffet.

Instructions
  1. Trim desired amount of fat from brisket.
  2. Add brisket to slow cooker.

  4. Cook on high for 5-7 hours.
  5. Monitor liquid in crock pot so that meat doesn’t dry out or burn.

Beef Brisket

The beef brisket was easy to prepare and drop in in the crock pot. When it was done it I sliced through it like butter and the flavor was amazing- slightly onion mixed with the tang of the barbecue sauce and apple cider. My only recommendation is to use fresh brisket and not corned. It was just a tad salty with the corned beef. We had it the next day with sliced beef brisket sandwiches though! This is a flavorful beef brisket recipe and a low maintenance dinner when you need a busy night or party go to!

  1. This recipe looks amazing! Stupid question, though…if I can’t find apple cider would it be okay to substitute apple juice? If not, any other suggestion for a substitute?

I don’t see why you couldn’t use apple juice. It just may not have the tang that cider has. Good luck! And no question is a stupid one. :-) Thanks for reading.
