Valentines Craft Ideas: David Tutura DIY, Flavored Pop Corn & Frosted Votive

Well, it’s finally here! Valentine’s Day. All the hearts, flowers, pink and red. And Valentine’s Day parties, and yes, Valentine’s Day weddings. If you want to save some money on entertaining at Valentine’s Day or walking down the aisle, it’s always good to use a little elbow grease. And some great supplies for your Valentines Craft ideas. David Tutera has some gorgeous products for either of those special occasions at Darice Bridal offering big time pretty style for small time budget.  I used them to put together this fun spread perfect for a small Valentine’s get together!

First I used the David Tutera paper cones with the lattice trim to make little snack cups. These can be used as I did for snack cups, hold flower petals for a wedding, or as hanging decorations. I used a few dabs of hot glue down the edge of the cone and then wrapped it around to close. I decorated them with red hearts I made with my Silhouette. I added red candied popcorn for tastey Valentine’s flair. Easy and pretty!

I made the red popcorn for the Valentine’s craft idea using red Wilton candies and melting them in the microwave and drizzling them over microwave popped kettle corn. The sweet and salty was so good and the red was perfect for the holiday!

Next I made what is my favorite project of this set. I hand frosted two 99 cent votives with spray glass frost. I let it dry the rest of the day and then rolled the red bling from Consumer Consumer crafts around the middle of the votive. Go light on the hot glue and pull the bling tight so it doesn’t sag. Then I glued the little decorative rhinestone on the red bling and added a little candle. The frost worked great and they were so easy to do. They had a pretty finish that had that David Tutera big budget style for not a lot. I will be making these for other holidays! Would also be so cute on a reception table for a wedding!

Finally I added the mini battery operated lights by David Tutera in a white lantern filled with red and pink glitter hearts. I had been using the lantern on my mantle but used it was a great fit for this Valentines Craft idea. The lights worked great and gave a soft glow to the lantern. Perfect for a party or wedding ambiance.  The paper cones with the red popcorn, the frosted votives, and the lit lantern made a pretty party setting on a pretty great budget- perfect for an event with your dime in mind.
